Fans faced a bit of sticker shock today when Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 would cost $450, especially with some new physical games set to cost as much as $90. But the price of upgrading to the Mario maker’s next console generation is set to get even worse after President Donald Trump announced a new wave of shockingly high tariffs that could push the price of a Switch 2 in the U.

Nintendo has delayed pre-orders in the U.S. for Switch 2 in response to sweeping new tariffs outlined the Trump administration earlier this week. Pre-orders were scheduled to begin on April 9, but have been delayed indefinitely.

Nintendo fans bombarded a Switch 2 livestream on Thursday to shout at the company to drop the price of the upcoming console.

Aside from Switch 2's price of $449.99, its games are priced at $79.99-$89.99, making the fans think that it is overpriced for just one game! Another reason why the prices of Switch 2's games are higher than they ever were: it's because they focused on the game cards being faster and more efficient, thus, making it more expensive.

And yet, we mustn't forget that this is only a suggested price. Retailers are free to list titles at whatever lump sum they please and for some European storefronts, Nintendo's starting figure is clearly too high.
