Hurricane Melissa to hit Jamaica

The National Hurricane Center warned Jamaican residents to take immediate cover as the eye of the "extremely dangerous" Hurricane Melissa began to make landfall on the southwest coast of the island Tuesday morning.
The storm is expected to bring destructive winds and life-threatening and catastrophic flooding and landslides to Jamaica, forecasters say.
It also marks the first time in 20 years that three or more Category 5 hurricanes have developed over the Atlantic Basin in one season. The last time was in 2005, when Hurricanes Emily, Katrina, Rita, and Wilma all reached Category 5—breaking a record.
