U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement defended arresting the man who had just dropped off a child at Jovita Idár Elementary.

The plan overrides the charter network's plan to shutter half of its schools. The change came after CPS officials warned that helping Acero keep all seven campuses could violate state law and be financially risky for CPS.

Of seven Acero charter school campuses that had been targeted for closure by the network, five will remain open for the 2025-26 school year after a Board of Education vote.
