SIOUX FALLS, S.D. ( South Dakota Searchlight) — The only man on death row in South Dakota wants a federal judge to give him another set of appeals because of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upended its prior guidance on the authority of federal bureaucrats.

Richard Glossip’s Supreme Court case became a focal point in the national debate over the death penalty, which critics say is unjust or unfairly applied.

The State of Louisiana plans to execute the first death row inmate in more than a decade and the first by nitrogen gas, but the inmate’s attorneys are trying to stop it.
