Brave New World director Julius Onah discusses his inspirations for the sequel and working with Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford.

For Nigerian-American director Julius Onah (“The Cloverfield Paradox”), entering the MCU with “Captain Marvel: Brave New World” provided the opportunity to make a paranoid thriller, one in which Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, the new, untraditional Captain America, must stop a global threat involving the powerful substance adamantium.

Brave New World debuts in theaters on February 14, 2025, and is set to become the fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s prolific Captain America franchise. However, this is the first film featuring Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) taking over the mantle from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
