In overtime, Manning scrambled for a gain of 13 yards, but had to leave the game and go to the medical tent after taking a hard hit. Backup quarterback Matthew Caldwell replaced Manning, completing a 10-yard touchdown pass to Emmett Mosley V that proved to be the game-winning score. It was an easy two-minute drill for Mississippi State.

The Longhorns overcame a 17-point deficit with less than 10 minutes left in regulation and the loss of Arch Manning in overtime to stun the upset-minded Bulldogs.
