About 260 human trafficking victims, more than half of them Ethiopian, have been transferred into Thailand after being found along the Myanmar border by a rebel group.

The government is preparing for an influx of foreign victims released from the clutches of call-centre scam gangs in Myanmar after Thailand cut off power and internet , Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai said on Wednesday.

The group had been working at a scam center in Kyauk Khet Village in Karen State, according to the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army, which controls the area.
