Blue Origin’s next crewed flight mission will carry an all-female crew to space, including singer Katy Perry and journalist Gayle King.

The next voyage will mark the New Shepard's 11th one into space while carrying passengers and its 31st overall.

The upcoming spring launch of Blue Origin’s New Shepard program will be historic as it features an all-female crew. Among the passengers is CBS Mornings co-host, Gayle King, who was announced as part of the mission team on Thursday.

They will be aboard the New Shepard, the centerpiece rocket of Blue Origin’s space tourism business, in a launch this spring.

For the first time, Blue Origin put its New Shepard suborbital rocket ship through a couple of minutes' worth of moon-level gravity.

Gayle King is preparing to journey beyond Earth's atmosphere in a historic space mission featuring an all-female crew.

Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket, a reusable suborbital rocket system, carried Lane Bess, Jesús Calleja, Elaine Chia Hyde, Dr. Richard Scott, Tushar Shah, and an undisclosed sixth crew member on the trip, according to a news release. The flight was dubbed NS-30 as the 30th New Shepard flight, 10 of which carried passengers.

The mission will be the first all-female space crew since cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova’s solo spaceflight, which made her the first woman in space, in 1963. According to Blue Origin, Sánchez hopes the mission will "inspire the next generation of explorers."
