The NTSB said the cargo jet’s wheel brakes were applied, but its speed brakes and thrust reversers did not deploy, according to available data.

The Amazon.com Inc. cargo plane that crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday increased thrust just seconds before it overran the runway and careered into two vehicles, the US National Transportation Safety Board said.

Federal investigators described the scene of the crash as “utter devastation” and said the plane also struck an SUV on the road.

Miami International Airport is under a ground stop on Sunday afternoon after officials said a cargo plane overran the runway and hit multiple vehicles, impacting several patients.
