Early official results in Bolivia showed the centrist Rodrigo Paz of the Christian Democratic Party leading Sunday's presidential race, with a surprise 32.04% of the vote according to the country's electoral tribunal.

On August 17, general elections were held in Bolivia. After almost two decades of rule by the leftist Movement Toward Socialism (MAS) party, two right-wing parties will contest the presidency. The second round of elections is scheduled for October 19.
