President Donald Trump said he has authorized South Korea to build a nuclear-powered submarine, allowing the country access to military technology possessed by few other nations.

The US and South Korea have reached a broad trade deal, both countries have said following talks between their leaders.

Last month, Kim signalled an openness to meeting Trump if the U.S. dropped its demands that he give up his nuclear arsenal, while rejecting any talks with South Korea.
