The No. 20 Texas Longhorns will take on the No. 9 Vanderbilt Commodores at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 1 for week 10 of college foo

After beating Missouri 17-10 on Saturday, the Vanderbilt Commodores sit at 7-1, will be in the top-10 in the AP Poll, and sit three wins away from a College Football Playoff berth. Two years ago, this thought would have seemed impossible.

No. 17 Cincinnati at No. 24 Utah is the big game in the Big 12, with the upstart Bearcats looking to extend their winning streak to eight games. The game of the week in the Atlantic Coast Conference is No. 10 Miami at SMU, the teams' first meeting since the Mustangs joined the league last year.

Vanderbilt ranks 31st in total defense and 24th in scoring defense. Texas’ offense, on the other hand, is 78th in total offense and 65th in scoring offense. These stats point to the notion that Vanderbilt’s defense should have a clear advantage when it goes up against the Texas offense.

Vanderbilt football is putting the finishing touches on its 2026 recruiting class ahead of the early signing period. The Commodores are taking advantage of a successful 2025 season by adding a handful of strong later commits. Vanderbilt is bowl eligible for the second straight year and has a shot at the College Football Playoff.

Vanderbilt football is still outside the top 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, moving up one spot to No. 11 after a 17-10 win over Missouri. The Commodores remained in the top 10 of the AP Poll, moving up one spot to No. 9.

Fresh off of an 80-yard run–which was Vanderbilt’s longest play from scrimmage on Saturday–MK Young walked into Vanderbilt’s media room with a team-issued black shirt with “Misfits” inscribed on it in gold letters.
