Amazon services showing 'signs of recovery' after Snapchat and banks among sites hit by major outage
Hundreds of sites including Zoom, Duolingo and Lloyds bank are affected - Amazon Web Services says it's fixed the underlying issue but a full recovery will take longer.
The turmoil marked the largest internet disruption since last year's CrowdStrike malfunction hobbled technology systems in hospitals, banks and airports.
Snapchat, Roblox, Canva, Fortnite, Duolingo, some banks, including Halifax, Lloyds and Bank of Scotland, and many other websites have been affected after AWS went down.
Amazon, Roblox, Duolingo, the New York Times’ Wordle and 23 other websites and apps are down at the same time. Downdetector shows disruptions began at around 7.30am, with many apps showing hundreds of people saying apps are not working.
Amazon is reportedly down which is affected Fortnite, Snapchat, Ring doorbells and, of course, Alexa.
