Sept 18 (Reuters) - Prominent Australian rowing figures have criticised the approval of Rockhampton's crocodile-inhabited Fitzroy River as the venue for the sport at the Brisbane Olympics, arguing the course will require extensive investment and leave little lasting legacy.

The Australian city of Brisbane will host the 2032 summer Olympics after the International Olympic Committee on Wednesday approved the recommendation of its executive board. Brisbane, where a crowd had gathered to watch the announcement on big screens, becomes the third Australian city to get the Games after Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000.
