Dangerous heat will grip the Chicago area through midweek before storm chances increase heading into the Fourth of July weekend.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Cook County, and a Heat Advisory for the rest of the Chicago area, through at least Wednesday night.

Another round of storms is expected to hit the area later in the night, with flash flood warnings being issued for much of the metro area until 3 a.m. Thursday.

Dangerous heat will continue across Chicago through Thursday before storms bring a chance for relief heading into the holiday weekend.
