Last season, Indiana surprised everyone by producing the No. 6 stop rate defense in college football, getting stops on 73% of its drives against FBS opponents. This year, the Hoosiers have been even better through nine games with a stop rate of 77.5%.

The first edition of the College Football Playoff Rankings was released Tuesday night with undefeated Ohio State opening at No. 1 ahead of Indiana.

However, they've been steadily climbing the rankings, while playing better football too, and are now the No. 10 team in the initial CFP rankings.
