The WWE SmackDown in Ottawa was marked by intense rivalries and a wildly unpredictable main event. Lash Legend and Nia Jax triumphed in a thrilling tag team debut. Jacy Jayne retained her WWE Women's United States title in a fierce battle against Paige.

The Sept. 4 episode of SmackDown saw an unscheduled title defense from CM Punk against Johnny Gargano, and more interference from Sami Zayn.

As such, the episode that airs in the usual three-hour block on Friday, Sep. 4, starting at 8 p.m., was taped on Friday, Aug. 28 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Two episodes were taped that day.
