The United Nations says 170,000 metric tons of food, medicine and other humanitarian aid is ready to enter Gaza

As part of the ceasefire plan, Israel is starting to pull back troops from parts of Gaza. Meanwhile, aid trucks are preparing to enter the Gaza Strip. CBS News reporter Haley Ott has the latest and Will Todman,

The Israeli military says it has partially withdrawn troops from parts of Gaza after a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect on Friday morning. Israeli forces said they had pulled back to an agreed position within the territory - though troops still occupy half of the Strip.

The cease-fire sets the stage for the release of the remaining hostages and an influx of humanitarian aid into the territory.

Daniel Shapiro, who served as U.S. ambassador to Israel during the Obama administration, said Friday he is "highly confident" that the initial phase of the Israel-Hamas deal — including the hostage release — will take place.

Relief spread across the region as Israel and Hamas moved closer to formalizing a cease-fire agreement that would lead to the release of all of the remaining hostages and potentially pave the way for an end to two years of devastating war.
