Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee says officials have decided to combine the annual St. Patrick’s parade with the postponed Argus parade that was canceled on Fat Tuesday.

The event will now take place alongside the St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Jefferson, creating a once-in-a-lifetime occasion where Mardi Gras meets St. Patrick's Day.

But the parish announced Wednesday that its premier Carnival parade, the Krewe of Argus, will get to roll on a new date and route. On March 16, Argus will roll down Metairie Road, just before the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.
