DETROIT, MI - Michigan’s best high school wrestlers descended on Detroit’s Ford Field Friday to kick off the 2025 individual state tournament. From dominant displays to thrilling upsets, Day 1 kept fans on the edge of their seats, and Saturday’s championship and medal-round action promises to be even better.

The 2024-25 Michigan high school individual wrestling state tournament begins Friday (Feb. 28) at Ford Field in Detroit. The first round begins at 10:30 a.m.

Wing came back to beat Brown City’s Aedyn Pasco by a 16-3 major decision in the consolation semifinals before beating Blissfield’s Jude Rosas by pin in 3:39 in the third-place match. Wing finishes the year at 41-8.

The crowd at Ford Field on Saturday was treated to 70 different wrestling matches at the MHSAA individual championship matches across the four boys divisions and single girls division.

Hundreds of individual wrestlers from across Michigan will compete at Ford Field for the state high school individual finals.

The Hometown Life's region, which spans most of the west side of metro Detroit, had nine competitors advance to Saturday's MHSAA individual wrestling state finals at Ford Field, eight of whom won state titles. That included four grapplers from Detroit Catholic Central bringing home titles and four girls.
