Former President Obama hit the campaign trail on Saturday, rallying supporters for Democratic gubernatorial candidates Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill at separate events in Virginia and New Jersey — while throwing some jabs at President Trump in the process.

The New Jersey governors election grows tighter even as Democratic candidate Mikie Sherrill maintains her lead.

Democrat governor candidate Mikie Sherrill declared that "New Jersey is a blue state" on Saturday in the final days of her campaign against Jack Ciattarelli.

Democrats showed up in reliably red Monmouth County, stumping for their gubernatorial nominee Mikie Sherrill and blasting Donald Trump.

Her lead is slightly smaller in a co/efficient poll (1 percent) with Sherrill at 48 percent and Ciattarelli at 47 percent. Some 995 voters were surveyed between October 23 and 27. Newsweek has contacted Ciattarelli, via online contact form, to ask its margin of error.
