Dallas guard Paige Bueckers scored a WNBA rookie-record 44 points Wednesday night, but the Wings came up short in a buzzer-beating loss to the Sparks.

Bueckers' 44th point to tie the record was a technical free throw in the final minute that put the Wings ahead 80-79. However, Kelsey Plum hit a buzzer-beater from just inside the free-throw line with a pop shot that banked in off the glass, and the Sparks won 81-80.

Before Kelsey Plum drained the game-winning basket against the Wings on Wednesday, she first broke a long-standing Sparks record.

The Valkyries already have the most wins by an expansion team in WNBA history and are in a good position to add a playoff berth to their list of accomplishments. They are currently sitting as the No. 7 seed and won the season series against the Sparks 3-1.
