Storms brought torrential rain to the Lehigh Valley on Monday, causing flash flooding. Flooded roadways were a common site around the region, but the Upper Saucon Township area appeared to see the worst of it. The area of Route 309 at Hopewell Road, near Saucon Creek, was particularly hard hit.

We are under a MARGINAL risk for storms (1 out of 5) from the Storm Prediction Center, which means storms are possible. With the cloud cover in place today, expect temps to stay in the upper 80s. We could get some more rainfall over the next few days which could lead to flash flooding in spots that have already seen a lot of rain.

Another upper-level disturbance will approach the region on Wednesday, increasing the coverage of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms may become strong to severe, bringing the threat of gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and flash flooding. Highs will once again top out near 90.

A frontal system along the the Maine/Quebec border this morning is bringing a few showers to western areas. Another round of showers, and potentially thunderstorms, will pop up in the west and move east through the afternoon and evening.

The official tally of storm-related deaths across Texas rose to 131 on Monday as authorities warned of yet another round of heavy rains 10 days after a Hill Country flash flood that transformed the Guadalupe River into a killer torrent.

The Kerr County sheriff paused search efforts Sunday because of more flooding from heavy rain in Central Texas. Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico were also under flood watches.
