Looking rusty and every bit of 75 years old, the former luxury cruiser limped into the Port of Mobile Monday with the help of a couple of tug boats.
The "Big U" as it's known, completed its roughly 1,800-nautical-mile journey to Mobile, Ala., around 6 a.m. Monday, a few days ahead of schedule.
The SS United States set the transatlantic speed record on its maiden voyage in 1952, a record it still holds today.
