Vanderbilt football got off to a bit of a slow start in its season opener against Austin Peay (1-1), but the Commodores (1-0) eventually pulled away for a comfortable 28-9 win on Sept. 5 at FirstBank Stadium. The game ended with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter after the head coaches mutually agreed to call the game after entering a lightning delay.
