The Athletic’s Jim Bowden has named the Yankees as a potential fit for third baseman Alex Bregman’s services. Bregman spent 2025 with the Boston Red Sox after signing a three-year deal with them before the season, hitting .273 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in 114 games. He was named an All-Star for the first time since 2019 for his efforts.
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox could get into a bidding war for a few key free agents this offseason.
“Both Alex Speier of The Boston Globe and Tyler Milliken of WEEI suggested Matt Chapman's contract as a comparison to what Bregman could get. The third baseman signed a bridge deal with the San Francisco Giants in 2024, posted a rebound season, then signed a six-year, $151 million extension,” BoxSox Injections’ Katie Manganelli wrote.
Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman is projected to sign a $182 million deal in free agency this winter.
