Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are still feeling the sting of their Super Bowl blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. That sting does not leave until a new season gets underway and the hunger to get back to the big game returns. So far this offseason, the Chiefs have been pretty busy.

Former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs on Thursday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 28-year-old is expected to serve as the team’s newest backup quarterback, a title that was previously held by Matt Moore, Chad Henne, Blaine Gabbert and Carson Wentz.

On Thursday afternoon, they made their move. Instead of re-signing Wentz to back up Patrick Mahomes, general manager Brett Veach opted to bring in former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs got whooped in the Super Bowl. That meant they needed to get better, but Patrick Mahomes has not received enough help so far.

They’ve already been busy this offseason, trading offensive guard Joe Thuney to the Bears and reaching deals cornerback Kristian Fulton, running back Elijah Mitchell and offensive tackle Jaylon Moore. They also placed the franchise tag on guard Trey Smith and re-signed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, among other moves.
