A shootout between Ukraine's military intelligence agency (HUR) and State Security Service (SBU) broke out in Kyiv the morning of Sept. 2, injuring three HUR officers and prompting an investigation.

Ukrainian schools are adapting to wartime conditions as the conflict with Russia continues. On Tuesday, Kyiv's Obolon district marked the start of the school year amid air raid alerts and distant explosions.

KYIV, Sept 2 (Reuters) - A Russian attack cut power to a large part of Ukraine's southern Black Sea region of Odesa, while strikes on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv entered their seventh day, Ukrainian officials said on Wednesday.

Russian drone strikes on Kyiv on the morning of Sept. 2 injured at least seven people, damaged a medical facility in Shevchenkivskyi district, and caused a fire at an educational institution in Holosiivskyi district, authorities reported.

The overnight attacks come after 38 people were killed in Russian strikes on a weapons depot in the Kyiv region on Friday, causing shells, mines and drones to detonate. Separately, a drone attack hit a major Russian Baltic Sea port in Ust-Luga, triggering a fire, Leningrad regional Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko said.

A gun battle broke out between two of Ukraine's security services early this morning in Kyiv, officials have revealed.

A Russian attack on Kyiv destroyed a printing plant that was in the process of turning out 1.3 million school text books, about 10% of the total.

An original version of the 28-point peace plan, brokered by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian Envoy Kirill Dmitriev and first published last November, imposed punishing demands on Ukraine and was widely seen as a demand for Kyiv to surrender.
