Several cats escaped an animal shelter in Oakdale after a car crashed through the building, the ASTRO Foundation Inc. said Sunday evening.

A 36-year-old Northern California woman and her infant daughter, who had been missing for more than a month, have been found in a vehicle submerged in a waterway.

The nonprofit serves Riverbank as well as Oakdale, including adoptions, spaying and neutering of dogs and cats.
