Here are the winning Powerball numbers for Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025: The winning numbers from Wednesday's drawing were 31, 59, 62, 65, 68 and the Powerball was 5. The Power Play multiplier was 2. There were no winning tickets sold for the main jackpot.

The jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize. The biggest Powerball jackpot in history, worth $2.04 billion, was won in 2022 by a California player, the New York Times said. In the latest drawing, a ticket sold in Tennessee won $2 million. Tickets sold in Michigan and Oklahoma won $1 million each.

It’s far from the record jackpot territory of $2 billion, though it’s still among the higher lottery prize amounts to date. But for Adam Osmond, any jackpot fervor only serves as a reminder of the dark side of lotteries.
