The sixth inning of Game 1 of the World Series was an exorcism. Toronto, one of the world's great metropolises, a city that has loved its baseball team through decades of it not loving back, screamed and bellowed and remembered what championship baseball looked like.

It's over. The Blue Jays take Game 1 in lopsided fashion, spurred by the first pinch-hit grand slam in the history of the World Series courtesy of Addison Barger. Blake Snell struggled massively after an all-time postseason run, and now the Dodgers will turn to Yoshinobu Yamamoto to tie the series.

Years from now, Game 1 of the 2025 World Series is going to be remembered for the sixth inning that shook Rogers Centre. Most of Ontario, really. The Blue Jays loaded the bases with nobody out and chased Dodgers starter Blake Snell.

Standout rookie starter Trey Yesavage didn’t have his best stuff but limited the Los Angeles Dodgers to two runs over four innings for the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 1 of the World Series.

Bichette, a two-time All-Star and AL hits leader, was set to bat cleanup in Friday night’s opener. He hadn’t played since he sprained his left knee in a Sept. 6 collision with New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells.
