The third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft made his preseason debut in Saturday's contest with the Eagles ,finishing 13 of 18 for 143 yards with an interception, which was returned for a 75-yard touchdown by Andrew Mukuba, ending his day with a 72.2 passer rating.
That being said, one Cleveland analyst has spoken out with a strong warning to the team about a possible quarterback decision the coaching staff could make. During a segment on "The BIG Factor," Nick Pedone warned the team against playing Watson at all moving forward.
Flacco, who is entering his 18th NFL season, will also start in the team's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams at home on Saturday. Coach Kevin Stefanski said he would treat the game as a dress rehearsal for the regular season. Flacco did not play in Cleveland's first two preseason games. The Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals Week 1.

The Cleveland Browns have announced that Joe Flacco will be their starting quarterback for the Sept. 7 opener against AFC North rival Cincinnati.
Joe Flacco will be the team's Week 1 starter. Deshaun Watson is on the roster, but isn't expected to play against for the Browns. Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel are potential options, but none of them are proven.
