Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested President Donald Trump caught Ukraine off guard with his peace plan including a provision recognizing Crimea as Russian territory. The move would end an 85-year old U.

Trump's plan held that the United States would recognize Ukraine's Crimea and sovereign Russian territory, departing from an 85-year-long policy of the US not recognize annexed territory as belonging to the aggressor.

"There is nothing to talk about. This violates our Constitution. This is our territory, the territory of the people of Ukraine," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
