Jaishankar was leaving the Chatham House after concluding an interactive session at the institute, home to Royal Institute of International Affairs, on Wednesday evening, when a tall and bearded man jumped the security cardon and tried to block the minister's motorcade by standing in front of it and tore an Indian flag.

The Indian ministry of external affairs has expressed deep concern over the security breach involving EAM S Jaishankar's convoy in London, stressing the need for the UK to take action against those responsible.

India said the incident when a pro-Khalistan activist breached Jaishankar’s security reflected the “licence accorded to such forces” in the UK

During S Jaishankar's UK visit, India condemned the security breach and called for measures against the misuse of democratic freedoms by extremists and separatists.

The incident occurred on the second day of Jaishankar’s nearly week-long visit to the UK and Ireland and after he had completed an engagement at Chatham House in London

"We strongly condemn the incident that took place outside Chatham House yesterday (Wednesday) during the External Affairs Minister’s visit to the UK,” a Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) spokesperson said.

Taking strong exception to Khalistani sympathisers breaching the security of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in London, India said it expects the UK to live up to their diplomatic obligations.

A UK government spokesperson said that such attempts to "intimidate, threaten, or disrupt" public events are "completely unacceptable".

Urging action against the culprits, India has conveyed ‘deep concern’ to the UK authorities over the breach of security arrangements by Khalistani separatist during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's UK visit.
