The seventh installment in the action-adventure series created by Steven Spielberg opened well ahead of expectations over the long Fourth of July holiday in the U.S. - where it racked up $147.8 million - as well as overseas.

“Jurassic World” was missing from IMAX screens domestically (due to a commitment to continue showing “F1”), but it thrived on the premium large format screens where it played. One of those options was Dolby Cinema, where it made nearly $8 million from only 167 screens in five days.

While Jurassic World Rebirth ends with Mahershala Ali, who plays Duncan, sacrificing himself by distracting a Distortus rex with a flare. However, after diving into the water, another flare shoots up, and it's revealed that Duncan survived.
