There are reasons to think Schenn would be a good fit with Toronto, but is he the best fit ahead of next week's trade deadline? Maybe not.

With the NHL trade deadline set to hit on Friday, the Leafs are looking to bolster their centre depth. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, it appears that one of the options they are considering is Schenn, who currently has 12 goals and 37 points in 61 games this season.

TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger was on "First Up" on Monday morning and was asked how that could affect the possibility of Schenn being traded this week. He said (3:28):

Treliving's statements, however, were slightly contradicted by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet's "Saturday Headlines" segment as he pointed toward St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn as a Maple Leafs' serious target.

As per Andy Strickland, it is believed the Toronto Maple Leafs are no longer in the running or talking seriously about a trade to acquire Brayden Schenn at the trade deadline.
