A Chinook salmon was recorded ascending the fish ladder at Keno Dam on the upper Klamath River this week (Sept. 24) — a powerful sign of recovery since the removal of four hydroelectric dams last year. DEC opened the new fish ladder at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery, in Altmar, NY, Friday, 10 Sep. Coho & chinook (king) salmon staging in Beaverdam Brook had no problem hightailing it up the new ladder to the initial pond.
