We followed the journey of the lead mined in the Mendip Hills to it’s final destination here in Bath. It was used to construct the Great Bath you see before you, the centrepiece of the Roman Bath complex. Lined with 45 sheets of thick lead, this lead helps to keep the hot water in and water levels maintained. There are also lead pipes which carried water around the complex, playing a crucial role in the engineering of the baths.We’re not too sure if we’d fancy a swim in this lead lined pool! 😂#
