In 2004, the weird af Quiznos Spongmonkeys changed the course of advertising forever. The art director found them in a viral video about the moon; next thing you know, they were singing about subs instead. And we still can't get them out of our heads. #early2000s #quiznos #nostalgia #spongmonkey #fyp

The Spongmonkeys were fuzzy, rat-like mascots for Quiznos Sub sandwiches who debuted in 2004 commercials. The singing, guitar-playing creatures were designed by Joel Veitch and became a viral sensation, garnering over a million views in the pre-YouTube era. However, Quiznos stopped airing the ads after a few months due to negative reactions from consumers and franchisees.

Terrifying. In the 2000s Quiznos thought it was a good idea to use these guys in their advertising. This caused many people to lose their appetite and swear off Quiznos. . . . . . #spongmonkeys #quiznos #subs #pepperbar #advertising #commercial #2000s #00s #millennials #millenial #weird #funny #humor
