I absolutely love accomplishing these challenging wedding dress alterations - this is what @alterme_bridal is known for 🙌🏼 Funny enough, we altered this dress many years ago for another bride, but that was only to resize. So when I received the same dress style again and got to learn that the bride wanted to make it a strapless design... I was like WhooHooo! Let's do it!! 👊🏼 Let me know what you guys think of the results 😍 Bridal dress from Astra Bridal | Alter Me

I was so stoked with how this hem extension turned out 🤍✨ We had to extend all four layers to the exact measurement she needed and the fabric matching honestly made my day! The lace we had on hand was about a 98% match, and the glitter tulle was almost perfect too. I only had to purchase extra lining, which wasn’t too bad. Then it was all about placement… I pin the lace appliqués on and step back to look at it from a distance so I can see how it’ll photograph on her wedding day. The goal is alw

The best part? The back lace wasn’t even original… it became a feature! 💁🏻‍♀️ I love when a “fix” ends up looking like it was always meant to be there 🥰 This dress was a bargain from an op-shop, but it was too tight through the thighs so the skirt couldn’t drop properly. That’s why it was riding up and wrinkling across the abdomen, and the back wouldn’t close. Once we let out the sides and the back, everything started to sit the way it should. If you’re sitting there staring at your wedding d

If a wedding dress doesn’t zip up, I never rush all the alterations at once. I like to work in stages so we can see how the dress naturally settles after each adjustment, and I always explain to the bride that more tweaks may be needed along the way. If you've had a consultation with me, you'll know how detailed I am in our conversations 😅 It's the busy season now, and we're nearly at capacity for Jan/Feb 2026 weddings. If you need your wedding dress altered book in asap to avoid rush fees. | A

Brides, stop wasting money by getting your wedding dress altered at a local alteration shop! 🗣 I can not stress this enough. Bridal gowns need to be altered by a bridal alteration specialist! THEY know wedding gowns. The majority of them have made off-shoulder sleeves and know how to properly sew a zip into a WEDDING DRESS. SHARE this with a bride who needs to know! | Alter Me

Thinking of adding lining to your wedding dress bodice? Read this first! 🤍 Bodice lining is a big change. You’ll see it straight away in photos, and you’ll definitely feel the difference when it’s on. There is so much more to bridal alterations than brides think. It's not always a simple take in or hem. It’s figuring out why the dress is not sitting the way it should and problem solving, the right way, to correct it. This wedding dress was a bit of a tough one for me because of how unique the outer fabric was. I knew I wasn't going to get that anywhere and that we'd have to get it out of the hem. There are various alteration options we can perform on a wedding dress that doesn't fit 😌 During your consultation, we’ll pin and show you exactly how each option will look on your gown so you can envision the final result. It's the peek bridal season now, so if you haven't yet booked in your bridal alterations, I strongly urge you to do this quickly before spaces run out!! | Alter Me

In order for your dress to be altered correctly, it first needs to be sitting on your body at the accurate points. ✅️ the bust point of the dress needs to be leveled at your bustle point (if wearing adhesive cups or body tape to lift the bust, then this must be worn when pinning) ✅️ the waist of the dress sits at the right height on your body (your waistline is the narrowest part of your body) ✅️ hip curve of the dress meets in line with your hip curve If after alterations, you're still messing

A wedding gown like this can’t rely on just one bustle option. It needs a little creative thinking, which is why brides come to us 💁🏻‍♀️ I would usually place a single bustle point at the centre back in the tulle, but because this dress had a corset back, two bustle points sitting on either side of the corset gave a much nicer, more balanced look. Not to mention you could still see all the beautiful lace detailing 😍 | Alter Me

Part 2: If I was faced with this dress challenge again, I would… ✨️ Suggest remaking the skirt and cutting it on the bias. This way the bride can get the cinched-in look without the creases. This would be an expensive alteration so I would leave this as the last resort. ✨️ Suggest to replace the zip with a corset closure instead to have better control over the tightness around the hip region. ✨️ Suggest adding darts for shaping around the abdomen, or perhaps full panel lines. Not every dress is

The draped front completely changes the look of the dress from 2D to 3D 😍 it looks so much more modern and trendy, and the fit at the back just 🤌🏼 I've learned so much with this bridal alteration, and I'm hoping to perfect it even more the next time I have a chance to do it again.
