🦜 Interesting fact: Rio (2011) — To ensure the movements of the birds were as realistic as possible, the animators at Blue Sky Studios brought in a real-life Spix’s Macaw to the studio so they could study its mannerisms, wing spans, and facial expressions up close. The film was actually inspired by a news story about a Spix’s Macaw in Colorado that was found to be one of the last of its kind. While the movie has a happy ending for Blu and Jewel, the Spix’s Macaw was officially declared extinct
