The Taco Bell Ad That Launched Two Careers In 1997, a low-key Taco Bell commercial became an unlikely Hollywood starting line. A 34-year-old Joey Diaz appears briefly getting his shoes shined—later crediting the paycheck with helping him survive early LA struggles. The ad also marked the very first acting job for 27-year-old Noel Gugliemi, aka the endlessly recognizable “Hector.” Not bad for fast food. | Did You Catch This?

Back in 1997, a seemingly ordinary Taco Bell commercial turned out to be a surprising launchpad for two future Hollywood faces. In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, a 34-year-old Joey Diaz can be seen getting his shoes shined.
