When I first joined the NHS at 19, I got endless grief over my tattoos. Thankfully, attitudes have moved on. But what still blows my mind is that staff are expected to spend 12–14 hour shifts in uncomfortable, cheap polyester uniforms and are often discouraged from wearing trainers. We ask healthcare workers to give everything they've got, yet something as basic as comfortable, practical clothing still seems like too much to ask. Then there's nails. Despite multiple studies suggesting that well-
