Ludington’s test evaluates for rupture of the long head of the biceps tendon. The patient places both hands on top of the head with the palms facing downward and then simultaneously contracting the biceps muscles. A positive result is indicated by the appearance of a visible “Popeye” deformity of the arm and the inability to palpate the proximal long head of the biceps tendon.
