The juveniles were incredibly playful and would come right up and check you out, while the big bull males (that grow up to ~800 pounds) lurk in the distance keeping an eye on their territory. When the tides flow against the wind, conditions get rough in the Bay of Fundy. Some parts of the bay see a tidal range of up to 53 feet. While out on the lobstering shoot during my workshop, we had a flood tide pushing water against a northeast wind. It got pretty choppy in a few of the tidal rips near West Quoddy Light off Lubec, Maine.
