A surfer was rescued by Porthcawl RNLI after he was caught in a powerful rip current. Ben Fraser, 30, originally from London but is now living in south Wales, who has been surfing for 15 years, said he had only been surfing at Rest Bay, Porthcawl a handful of times and that was he unfamiliar with the "strength of the rips".
